The party already in power in Goa held on for another term.
The Indian National Congress won 21 of the state's 40 seats.
That reached the 21-seat majority mark exactly, with no seats to spare.
The Bharatiya Janata Party followed with 10.
What changed
Even with the same party winning again, the numbers showed real movement beneath the surface.
The party's own seat count moved up only modestly, from 18 to 21.
Its nearest rival, the BJP, saw its vote share — the slice of all ballots cast that went to one party or candidate — climb by +17.1 pp percentage points.
Notable numbers

The tightest finish: Bicholim, Goa was decided by just 90 votes — the narrowest margin, how far ahead the winner finished, in votes, over whoever came second, anywhere in the state that year.
At the other extreme, Curtorim, Goa was won by a margin of 73.7% of the vote — the widest margin of the year, measured as a share of the vote rather than in votes.
Vasco Da Gama, Goa was the state's largest constituency by registered voters, with 33,127 names on the rolls.
Ponda, Goa drew the most crowded ballot in the state, with 9 candidates standing.
