Sikkim Democratic Front won a third term, taking nearly every seat in the house.

The SDF took 31 of the 32 seats.

The Indian National Congress was the only other party to win a seat, taking just 1.

Beneath the lopsided seat count, the swing from the previous election was substantial too.

Of the 32 constituencies compared with the previous election, 8 changed hands.

4 constituencies went uncontested that year — an unopposed return, a seat where only one candidate stood, so no vote was needed to decide it.

A few numbers from that election stand out.

The tightest finish: Sangha, Sikkim was decided by just 88 votes — the narrowest margin, how far ahead the winner finished over whoever came second, anywhere in the state that year.

At the other extreme, Chakung, Sikkim was won by a margin of 91.6% of the vote — one of the most one-sided results anywhere in the state that year.

Djongu, Sikkim recorded the highest turnout — the share of registered voters who actually cast a ballot — anywhere in the state that year, at 86.7%.

Gangtok, Sikkim was the state's largest constituency by registered voters, with 14,280 names on the rolls.

This was already a run of consecutive wins.
