Tripura's governing left-led party won again, matching its previous result almost seat for seat.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) won 38 of the 60 seats on offer.

That matched its own seat count from the previous election, also 38.

The Indian National Congress again finished second, with 13 seats.

The overall shape of the result barely moved, but the seats that changed hands told their own story.

4 seats changed hands, swinging from the INC to the CPM.

Even so, the CPM finished with the same 38 seats as before.

One new party also won a seat in the state for the first time: INPT.

A few numbers from that election stand out.

The tightest finish anywhere was in Golaghati, Tripura, decided by a single vote — just 1.

Takarjala, Tripura went the other way, won by 58.9% of the vote.

Hrishyamukh, Tripura recorded the highest turnout — the share of registered voters who actually cast a ballot — at 87.3%.

The most crowded contest was Radhakishorepur, Tripura, with 8 candidates on the ballot.

This extended a long run in office for Tripura's governing left-wing coalition.

It has now finished on top in 6 elections in a row.
