Record turnout, a bigger win
What happened
Tripura's governing left-led party won another landslide, and an even bigger one than before.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) won 49 of the 60 seats — more than four in five.
The Indian National Congress again trailed well behind, with 10 seats.
The CPM took 48.1% of the vote share — the slice of all ballots cast that went to one party or candidate.
What changed
This election also set an all-time turnout record for the state — the highest share of registered voters Tripura has ever recorded showing up to vote.
About 93.4% of registered voters turned out to cast a ballot, the highest figure in the state's recorded history.
The CPM also grew its own total, from 46 seats at the previous election to 49 now.
Notable numbers
A few numbers from that election stand out.
The closest race was Ramnagar, Tripura, decided by just 65 votes.
Hrishyamukh, Tripura went the other way, won by 32.5% of the vote.
Hrishyamukh, Tripura posted the single highest turnout of any seat, at 96.1%.
The most crowded contest was Karbook, Tripura, with 7 candidates on the ballot.
